As sports enthusiasts, we would like to introduce you to the Norseman Xtreme Triathlonan international extreme triathlon competition.
The test invented in 2003 by Paal Hårek Stranheim, is theone of the toughest triathlons on the planet. This race takes place every year in August in Norway and brings together 3.8 km of swimming, 180 km bike in the mountains and 42 km running.
Paal Hårek Stranheimthe creator of the race, wanted to create "a journey through the most beautiful landscapes in Norway where the experience is more important than the final time. "The bet is successful! Every year, thousands of athletes dream of participating in this event. Among them, only 250 get a ticket which will allow them to confront difficulties that are almost insurmountable for the average person.
The departure is given in the early morning of ferry dock in the center of the fjord. Competitors jump off the bridge and dive into the 15°C water. After swimming 3.8 km in the freezing water, the participants reach the shore and climb on their bikes. They then pedal 180 km and cross no less than 4 passes. After finishing the cycling part, the competitors start a 42 km run through one of the most breathtaking mountains in Norway. Only the first 160 finishers can win the famous " Black finishers T-shirt "at the top of Mt. Gaustatoppen. The other competitors will get the "white finishers".
To overcome these many difficulties, athletes can be accompanied by a family member or a friend. This accompaniment is essential because the organization does not provide any assistance, whether technical, nutritional or physical.
As you can imagine, the Norseman Xtreme Triathlon requires a very intense physical and psychological preparation for several months. Only the most experienced athletes can participate!
